InfoGrid applications, like most applications, have a need to print on screen, in human-readable character string form, certain objects. Sometimes the reverse is required: the user needs to be able to enter a character string which needs to be parsed and instantiated as an object.
Unfortunately, the facilities provided by the Java Developer's Kit (e.g. toString method, class MessageFormat etc.) to perform this are insufficient for many requirements.
InfoGrid defines facilities for "string representation" in package org.infogrid.util.text. Both serializing an object to a string representation, and deserialization if again from the same string representation are supported.
For examples how to use it, consider the XXXStringifierTestYYY classes in the test Module for this framework (org.infogrid.util.test).
